What your estimate means

Every line, in plain English

No mystery charges. Here's exactly what goes into your number.

The big idea

Your 95%-confident range

We show a price range we're 95% sure your finished project falls inside. The confidence never changes — instead the dollar range gets narrower as you tell us more. The number doesn't get "more sure," the band just tightens.

Installed price (per sq ft)

Every price includes both the flooring material and professional installation labor — not just the product on a shelf. That's the number that actually matters.

Quality tier — Budget / Mid / Premium

"Carpet" can mean anything from builder-grade to wool. Picking a tier tells us roughly what you're after, which tightens your estimate fast — in about five seconds.

Waste / overage

Real installs need a little extra material for cuts, seams, and pattern matching (usually around 10%). We add this so the estimate reflects what's actually ordered.

Tear-out & haul-away

Removing and disposing of your existing floor. We can do it — it's a separate line, so you only pay for it if you need it.

Transitions

The trim pieces between rooms or between two different floors — tile to wood at a doorway, for example. Priced per transition.

Furniture moving

Standard furniture, we move — it's included. Specialty items (pianos, safes, aquariums, pool tables) need specialty movers, so those you arrange — and we flag them up front, never on install day.

Stairs

Stairs are priced per step, not by square footage — the cuts, nosings, and labor are heavier than a flat floor.

Job minimum

A small project still requires a crew, materials, and a trip — so estimates won't fall below a set minimum.

Sales tax

Applied to the material portion of your project, per your local rate.
